The project entails the upgrading of an existing retail store, originally opened in 2017, to respond to evolving operational needs and user expectations over time. Design interventions were strategically focused on enhancing the store entrance, stationery section, book highlight zones, and key display areas to improve spatial clarity, functionality, and overall customer experience.

The entrance has been re-envisioned as a welcoming foyer, conceived as a primary visual anchor that introduces the store’s identity. This space is designed to prominently showcase key highlights, promotional features, and the latest materials, establishing a clear and engaging first impression upon arrival.

A series of bespoke display tables and flexible bookshelf systems are thoughtfully arranged within the store. These elements draw from the existing colour palette and are carefully aligned with the geometrical ceiling framework to maintain visual coherence. Two prominent structural columns are vertically clad in white oak and integrated with LED screens, providing dynamic platforms for promotional and informational content.

The stationery section has undergone a comprehensive redesign, with the design language informed by the store’s existing architectural elements and material palette. The renewed layout enhances product visibility while reinforcing a cohesive spatial identity.

In response to evolving user needs, several additional areas within the store have been further developed:

Storefront Dual Display
Two sets of dual-sided display shelving were introduced at the storefront. Each unit incorporates a large LED screen oriented towards the mall exterior, while integrated book shelving faces the store interior, establishing a dynamic visual dialogue between inside and outside.

Column Shelving
Custom-designed glass display shelving has been integrated into selected columns, specifically curated to showcase design publications in a refined and prominent manner.

Flexible Display Boxes
A series of movable display and storage units, designed in varying heights, were introduced to enhance spatial flexibility. These units serve a dual purpose, with top surfaces functioning as book display platforms and integrated drawers providing concealed storage for additional stock.
